The Hearing Loss Association of America is conducting an online survey to learn about the experiences of adults with a hearing loss who use Captioned Telephone Services (CTS). If you have a captioned telephone, please complete our quick survey. The survey should take about 6-8 minutes to complete. Your answers will help us better understand how captioned services are being used. Survey deadline is October 12, 2013.
About Captioned Telephone Services
Under the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) definition of Captioned Telephone Services (CTS) users must be able to "simultaneously both hear what the other party is saying (with whatever amount of hearing the user might have) and read what the other party is saying." This is done by having a communication assistant (CA) revoice what is said by the other party and then using speech recognition to convert the CA's speech to text, which is displayed on the captioned telephone in near-real-time. Internet Protocol (IP) CTS uses the Internet to provide for both incoming and outgoing calls.
