Start A Chapter or State Organization

To Start an HLAA Chapter

  1. Join HLAA or renew your membership.
  2. Find at least three, other HLAA members not related to each other or you and gauge their interest in forming an HLAA Chapter.
  3. With the help of those other, three HLAA members, identify physically accessible, public meeting places near public transportation or easily accessible by major roads and schedule a one-hour, public meeting at one of them.
  4. Publicize the meeting in local newspapers and shopping guides, in local businesses, and on public access television stations (where available).
  5. Hold an introductory meeting to share information about the Hearing Loss Association of America and the possibility of forming an HLAA Chapter in the community.
  6. Along with the other, three HLAA members decide whether the public’s response warrants the formation of an HLAA Chapter. If it does, contact the HLAA States and Chapters Coordinator.
