To Start an HLAA Chapter
- Join HLAA or renew your membership.
- Find at least three, other HLAA members not related to each other or you and gauge their interest in forming an HLAA Chapter.
- With the help of those other, three HLAA members, identify physically accessible, public meeting places near public transportation or easily accessible by major roads and schedule a one-hour, public meeting at one of them.
- Publicize the meeting in local newspapers and shopping guides, in local businesses, and on public access television stations (where available).
- Hold an introductory meeting to share information about the Hearing Loss Association of America and the possibility of forming an HLAA Chapter in the community.
- Along with the other, three HLAA members decide whether the public’s response warrants the formation of an HLAA Chapter. If it does, contact the HLAA States and Chapters Coordinator.
