Hearing Loss Support Specialists Training
Online - Self-paced - Training Program
Hearing Loss Support Specialists Training provides core knowledge and understanding for individuals who work with, or wish to work with, people impacted by hearing loss. It is not restricted to any one profession or discipline. The program is beneficial to professionals or volunteers who provide support for people with hearing loss.
The self-paced, online program consists of four classes (each with 10-12 lessons):
- Introduction to Hearing Loss
- Coping with Hearing Loss
- Out of the Shadows: Advocacy for the Hard of Hearing
- Hearing Assistive Technology: Listening Systems & Assistive Devices
Students have one year to complete the program. Graduates become members of the Hearing Loss Support Specialists Training.
The Hearing Loss Support Specialists Training is administered by the Hearing Loss Association of America. All four courses and is offered at a discounted price of $225. This fee includes: application & registration fees, access to the Academy training site and resources, electronic and hardcopy study materials, and access to tests, quizzes and final exam.

- National Association of Social Workers (NASW) - 65 CEU credits offered
- American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) - 55 CEU credits approved
- New Mexico Speech-Language Pathology, Audiology and Hearing Aid Dispensing Practices Board – 60 CEU credits approved
